About

Jupiter Lander is a single-player landing game in which the player guides a spacecraft toward a fictionalized rocky surface of Jupiter. Gravity continually accelerates the craft downward, while vertical and lateral thrusters can be used to slow its descent and position it above a landing platform. Displays show the remaining fuel and the craft’s vertical speed, which must be reduced to a safe level before touchdown. Striking the surrounding terrain or landing too quickly causes the spacecraft to crash. Three landing platforms offer different levels of difficulty. The broadest and easiest platform applies a x2 score multiplier, while the narrower sites apply x5 and x10 multipliers. Reaching the more valuable platforms requires greater horizontal movement and more careful control of the spacecraft’s descent, increasing fuel consumption and leaving less room to correct mistakes during the final approach. Using the thrusters consumes a limited supply of fuel. A successful landing awards points based on the selected platform and replenishes part of the fuel supply, allowing the player to attempt another descent. The objective is to complete repeated landings and accumulate the highest possible score before the available fuel is exhausted.
